THE HAGTJE— More than llOO delejates Tepresenting 46 nations, attended the " fifth International Congress of Agricultural Industries held here rejently. The congress afSrmed again the desirability of international cooperation and exchange of views and experience. ; ; Among the great number of xesolutions passed by the congress; one expressed the desire that all means shall be taken to convince the farxners concerned, especially through the agricultural schools, that they should use only those methods for 'the destruction of pests, which have been passed as efficient and. praeticable by. oflicial agri* cultural* ibstitiitions. The section for the'. vegetables and fruit industry wished to' draw the attention of governments. to the great importance of good prerefrigeration for the preservation of fruit and vegetables, in order to induce the authorities to co-operato iu establishment of first-class installations in all centres of production. Facilitieswere also demanded for the transpor.tation of vegetables and fruit in airtight wagons at national frontiers. Standardigation of packing in transportation of fresh vegetables and fruit' waa advocated.
