Gifts to the Church.

In 1928 the veetry purchased a parish car which was made possible by the handsome gift of £100 by Mrs W. Shrimpton, of Matapiro. In the Barne year further gifts were made by Mrs T. H. Lowry, who spared no expense in installing eiectric light in both the church and the vicarage and also by Mr E. J. Orr, who piped a water-supply all over the church and vicarage grounds. In the same year the church lost two life-long supporters, to whom no appeal was made in vain, in the paesing of Mr Henry. Hartree, of Ngaroto, and Mr F. M. Nelson, of Whakamarumaru. * • Two years later the church suffered a further loss in the death of Mr Francis Hutchinson, of Rissington, a generous supporter,. who for" over 40 years wou for hiruself- axj. h'onoured name in Hawko's Bay. In the same year. othor esteemed parishioners who passed away were Messrs F. C. Tong, H. S. Clarji and A. W. G. Calwalludor. Also . in 1930 the beautiful stained window, "The Lord is: My Hhephcrd" in St. Michael and All Angcls, the gift of the Lowry family, was unveiled by Bishop Williams to the memory of Maria Townsund Lowry, mother of Mr T. H. Lowry. The church itself might bo said. to be a..memorial lo ,her,,ns, it was largely due to her influence in the past tliat it came into being. In 1933 the Rev. C. E. Hyde, now viear at Wairoa, riucceeded Mr Geddis and he lemaijied until August of last jear vliea he was followed by the present vicar, the Ilev. J. J Anderson, from Waipiro Bay. Tliree years ago the Maraekakaho and Kereru districts were added to the church district and Mr C. E. Nelson Smith was appointed as representative. In the same year the church suffere°d further loss in'the pEBsiagr of Mr P.

Pattullo, of Newstead, Mrs Evan Davis, of Puketapu, and Mr A. y. S. Reed, of Brooklands, Puketapu.
