Captain Eyston drove his car the Thunderbolt, over a measured mile at 309.6 milea an hour but faiied to establishf an official record because he did not makn the return trip over the same course within an hour. The oxisting reoord of 301.1292 m.p.h. is hedd by Sir Molcolm Oampbell. It was created in Septfimber, 1035.
