A diamond necklace of exquisite workmanShip presented to Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, by the people of Paris on her wedding day, has been brought to India by the Maharaja of — Darbhanga, who acquired it for £15,000 at an auction in London. EIo possesses a fine collection of antiquo jewellery, some of it Indian, dating back to the early Mogul period. The necklace consists of 43 gcits,.and is eilclosed iu its original caso liearing Marie A»toinette's monogram. At the outbreah of the French Revolution she gave this treasure into the keeping of her sister, who fled from France to Austria.
