Little Change in Values at Stortford QUALITY LACKING

Little change was skown in to-day's market for fat cattle at Stortford Lodge compared witk tke previous sale a fqrtnight ago, wken a double yaTding was made. Tke yarding consisted of 220 station-bred entries and about 40 Jersey sorts. To-day's offerin^ lacked tke quglity tkat was penned a fortnigkt ago and a big percentage of tke pens contained unfinisked sorts. Female entries predominated and tke cows especially were ckiefly unfinished, giving butckers a short rongo for selection. Prime keifers were in skort supply and the top price was £14 for a wellfinished entry. Most of the pens wero of quite good quality but lacked finish, The quality of the offering was much below that penned at the last sale when some exceptionally well-bred entries were offered. There was a moderate supply of ox beef, tbe principal entry being on account of Mr Kobert Harding, of Boukawa, whick made to £14 17/6. Some pens of lighter finished wellframed bullocks offered earlier in the sale realised to £13 6/-. Ox beef showing quality realised fully. 40/- per 1001b. Late ia the sale Ihe market was topped with an. exceptionally prime young dehorned Hereford bullock whick realised £20 15/-. Realisations were a(s under:-—

CCW BEEF RATES. In from Haumoana, six Aberdeen Angus cows, medium fraated and ligkt iinisked, made to £9. From tke same source, a furtker pen of similar-bred cows, also ligkt finished, realised to £9 2/-. Two aged plain quality weighty Aberdeen Angus cows brougkt £8 15/-. On account of Taurapa Station, two medium to heavy horned Hereford cows, solidly finished, brought £11 10/-. From the same source, two clean-bycd medium framed Aberdeen Angus cows showing medium finish, sold at £10. OX BEEF RATES. In from Pakowhai, three fairlyframed Aberdeen Angus bullocks, showing medium finish only, sold at £13 6/-. From tho same source four similar bred, smalJer-framed bullocks, also medium finished, were passed at £11 17/6. Also in from Pakowhai, two mediuraframed, dehorned Hereford bullocks, showing a better finish than the previous pens made £13 7/6. Three well-framed, aged Aberdeen Angus bullocks, showing rather plain quality and medium finished, sold to £13 17/6. Two large-framed, heavy Holstein bullocks, carrying a lot oi condition, sold at £14 15/-. Two well framed keavy Hereford bullocks, solidly finished and showing quality, sold at £15 5/-. • On account of Mr Robert Harding Raukawa, a medium to keavy Aberdeen Angus bullock, quite well finished, sold at £13 15/-. In the same pen two dehorned Herefords, prime finished, sold at £13 16/-. On account of the same vcndor, four medium framed dehorned Hereford bullocks, well finished and showing quality,' being a good entry of ox beef, wero passed at £12 18/6. A further entry of Raukawa dehorned Hereford, similar in finish to previ-

l ous pen, were sold at £13. From the same suorce, a single heavy large framed korned Hereford cross bullock, but not so well finished as the remainder of the Roukawa entry, sold at £14 17/6. HEIFER RATES. In from Haumoana a pen of mediumgrown Aberdeen Angus cross heifers, unfinisked, made to £9 13/-. •A medium-framed, well-finished Sliorthorn cross *keifer, skowing prime quality, realised £11 15/-. A pen of small-grown, medium-finish-ed Aberdeen Angus cross fieifers made £7 17/6. On account of Taurapa Station. one quite well-grown Aberdeen Angus cross prime quality heifer, well finished, sold at £13 5/-. On account of the same vendorB, four Aberdeen Angus heifers, fairly grown and well finished, brought £12 15/-. On account of Mr. 1). Wilson, Waimarama, a pen of clean-bred, solidlyiinished Aberden Angus heifers, being good quality young beef, brought to £14. On account of Mangatapiri Station, a draft of small to medium-framed, cleaubred Aberdeen Angus heifers, quite well finished, brought to £9.
