A Spanisk Press agency claims, on authoritative information, tkat tke Britisk ' destroyer Basilisk sank the German subni rine XJ24 by means of depth ckarges after being attacked ofi: Cape Sap Antonio on October 4. Tke Gercnan Government, ou October 12 states tke agency, notified tke parents of tke qrew that tke submarine kad been sunk in manoeuvres, and ordered tkem to keep tke information secret. Oificials in Berlin state tkat tkey do not take the story seriously. They r«call tke Britisk statement made on October 9 — that no deftnite claioi as to tke sinking Qf tke attacking sukmarine could be made. Tke qfficials declare tkat tko submarine is still in service.
