Ongaonga and Makaretu Sports Clubs

ONGAONGA, Last Night. A deputation consisting of Mr D. Holden, chairman of the Ongaonga Sports Club, and Messrs T. Bibby, B. Dassler, E. Bradley and J. F. "Bell, waited on a general meeting called by the Makaretu Sports Club in the Makaretu school on Saturday evening. Mr 0 Thomson presided. i The deputation, which was introdueed by Mr R. Cook, made proposals for the amalgamation of the two sports clubs. Mr D. Holden said that the Ongaonga club desired amalgamation and, while making no stipulations, he would malce a few suggestions: (!) That a fouryear agreement be made between tho clubs j (2) that the meeting be on a 50-50 basis, and (3) tliat the meetings be held alternately at Sherwood and Ongaonga. Several questions concerning finance and property were asked and answered,. upon which the deputation withdrew so that the whole affair might be considered and discussed by the Makaretu Club, which signified that it will make its reply at the earliest opportunity.
