MODERATE ENTRY

Cattle Predominate at Waipukurau FEW SHEEP PENNED To-day 's yarding at the Waipukurau sale consisted almost entirely of cattle of which there was only g, moderate entry. The principal ofiering consisted of about 30 purjs-bred AberSeen Angus bulls, most of which were regist tered. Goad values were made for the fat cattle, some of which were dear buy* ing. Few of the pens contained any quality sorts, most of which were of a plain nature. Competition was keen except for unflnished plain bullocks. The stone sections did not providt the usual range for selection and th® largest entries consisted of yearling and 2-year steers, none of which had size as a feature. Two-year horned steers made £7 7/6, yearling steers, showing little improvement, made £6 2/-. Grown bullocks were in small numbers and not sufficient to test the market. The yarding, being of a more nondescript nature, was not of the class to indicate the changed conditions du# to the beneiicial rain on the market, Realisations were as under;— FAT CATTLE. A medium to heavy Aberdeen Angu* cross medium finished heifer# offered oa account of Mr P. Saunders, Takapau, sold at £12 2/-, On account of the same vendor, s small-grown medium finished heifer sold at £9 5/-. From the same source an age.d Jersey cow, in-good order, sold at £7. 5/-» A truek lot of eight clean-bred small to medium-framed Aberdeen Angu# cows in good killable order sold at £$ 10/> A medium-grown. 3-year Aberdeea, Angus steer, in store condition,' mad# £8 17/6. A large-framed heavy aged Aberdeea Angus bullock, lacking quality, sold a t £14 5/-. A well-finishe.d Holstein bullock sold well at £14. Two aged horned Hereford cows# plain in quality, brought £8. Nine dehorne.d aged Hereford cows, fairly framed and in medium ordeC only, brought £9 6/-. Three well-framed aged medium to heavy plain quality cows were passed at £12 1/-. • A brindle bullock, medium framed and quite well finished, sold at £11 5/-^ STORE CATTLE, j On account of Mr C. M. Tiffen, 30 clean-bred horned 2-year Hereford stpers, medium grown, showing good coats and, in hardy order, were passed at £7 7/6. On account of Mr W. Matthews^ Hat turua, 21 Aberdeen, Angus-cross cows, stated to be emjsty, and in light medium order, realised £6. On account of £Mr J. L. Hunter and in from the coast, 28 yearling Aberdeea Angus-Hereford-cross steers, medium grown and in fair order, sold at £6 2/-. In from Tikokino, 12 well-grown yearling Hereford heifers, in light condition and showing little improvement since being weaned were passed at £3. 14/6. In from Porangahau, a small entry of large framed Aberdeen Angus eros# bullocks, in gdod order store condition, sold at £9 18/-. Frcm the same vendor' 11 small from 3-year Aberdeen Angus steers, in tair store order, being empty after a few day,: on the road brought £3 10/-, A.A, BULL VALUES. An oifering of 29 pedigree Aberdeen Angus bulls was made cn account of Mr A. McGaflin, Elsthorpe, Mr R. B. JoJhnstone, Motuotaria, and Morrison Bros. The bulls, which were all. 2-year-olds, were alLgrass fed. A number wer® on the small side but were of good breeding type. The top price among the earlier offering was 46 guineas for .a bull on ao» count of Morrison Bros. Realisations were as under :— On account Mr A. McGaflin: By Caithage of Gwavas 32 guineas, J. MoCarten, Otane; by Caithage of Gwavas} 40gns., Capt. Johnston, Tamumu Station ; by Megiddo of Gwavas, 33| guineas, H. G. Dalby, Porangahau; by Caithage of Gwavas, 37gns., E. Elliott, Fernhiil; by Megiddo of Gwavas, 41 Station. By Megiddo of Gwavas, 35 guineas, W. Matthews, Hatuma. By guineas ; Capt. Johnston, Tamamu Megiddo of Gwavas, 28J guineas, II. Oollins, Otane Competition was not as keen as was anticipated for bulls which possessed leading blood strains with. the result that several of the entries were passed. The Moluotaria-Lred bulls which were the better grown topped the sale whea Marque oi Motuotaria realised 50 guineas, the purchasers being Matapiro Station, Hastings.
