Farewell Dance The farewell dance jto Mr. Ken Staiger, who is leaving Norsewood on transfr to the Tirau Post Office was well patronised. Mr. Eric Mather ivas M.C. and excellent dance music wa* supplied by Mr. W. Te Tau. After an appetising home-made supper, Mr. A. F. Ouliiford 'expressed regret at losing Mr. Staiger. He asked him to accept a cheque wi£h best wishes for a suecessful future. 3Ir. F. Thompson, captain of the Norsewood Hockey Club, also expressed regret at losiug such a valuable member and asked him to accept a smoker's stand as a token of esteem. Mr. W. Te Tau, president of the Norsewood Returned Soldiers' Association, presented Mr. Staiger with an electric reading lamp. filr. Staiger said he appreciated the good wishes that had been conveyed and thanked the promoters for the pleasant evening they had organised. Cards At Makotuku. The weekly card tournament neld by the Makotuku branch of the Labour Party was well patronised and the games keenly conteeted. In the women' s section Mrs. R. Morgan, Makotuku, andl Miss Nancy Longman, Ormondville, tied with nine and a-half games each, and in the play-cff the former won. For the men's prize, Mr. Mortensen, Norsewood, won with ten games. The second prize was won by Mr. Jackson, Ormondville. Special prizes for the first woman and man out in the sixth game were won by Mrs. P. W. Anderson, Makotuku, and Mr. P. Campbell, Ormondville. Mr. Pi Murphy controlled the games.
