Wairarapa Team's Success at Roy's Hill DIFFICULT CONDITIONS A Hastings mark.sman, Sergeant J. McGlashan, annesed the Coleman Belt in tlie annual rifle shooting competition held yesterday at the Roys' Hill Rifle Range, wben 12 teams from Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa competed for the prize-money donated by the trustees of the Coleman Estate. Shooting steadily under poor conditions. McGlashan put up the fine score of 162 out of a possible 175, his nearest competitor being two points behind. The Coleman Shiekl for the best) team. was won by the team representing C Company of the Hawke's Bay Regiment, from lilasterton, who finished niiie points ahead of the Napier team. In addition to the prize money presented by the Coleman Estate, the riflemen present also competed for approximately £50 offered by the New Zealand Government, which was awarded for five match practices included in the coxrpetition. The practices were: Fire rounds application with two optiomd sighteis at 200 yards, five rounds snapshooting at 200 yards, 10 rounds rapid at 200 yards, five rounds. application with two optional sighters at 300 yards, and 10 rounds rapid at 300yds. Misty rain f'ell for the majority of the day making conditions difficujt for shooting, but there was little wind such as is usually experienced at the range.
