OLD NAPIER RESIDENT

Mrs J. G. Gilberd, of Napier, on Friday celebrated ber 87th birthday. Mrs Gilberd bas been a resident of Napier for tbe past 71 years, arriving at Wellington from England in tbe ship Black Swan in 1886. Later in tbe samo year she came to Napier, where she has since resided. Her busband, tbe late Mr J. G. Gilberd, was for many years superintendent of tbe Napier Fire Brigade (a position at tbe present time held by ber son), a prominent volunteer and ericketer, died several years ago. Mrs Gilberd enjoys tbe best of health and she was visited and congratulated by members p_£ feer family.
