Old Auckland Hotel Changes Hands

AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Thistle Hotel in Queeiv street has been purchased by Dominion Breweriea Ltd., for £65,000, It is virtualiy a cash transaction, the terms giving the purchasors possession in about six weeks. The hotel, an old three-storey building, which occupies a freohold site with a irontage of 110ft. in Darby street as well as one of 45ft. in Queen street, was part of the Darby Estate. The propeTty was acquired by the late Mr Patrick Darby 80 years ago and has reniained in the family ownorship ever smce. There are 22 bedrooms in the hotel in addition to three public rooins jmd a dining-room. The Ponsonby Club Hotel at Three Lamps, after being rebuilt, was recently sold for the same figure.
