' ' Strickland was given an ovation on leaving the ring, Neusel was booed from the ring to his room. The demonstration continued, drowning the am. nouncemeutvof the ne^t bout between Ernie Roderick and Jimmy Purcell, who began to fight amid an uproar, Eoderick won, the fight being stopped in the fifth round. Most of the critics disagree with the verdict, Tho News-Chroniole's boxing correspondent says, "I mada Strickland a oomfortable winner.' The Daily Telegraph comments: "It Wa* tho most unpopular verdict in 30 year*,'1 Jfr Daly anaounces that he is protesting agaipst the referee's decision to the British Board of Gontrol.
