Mr M. M. Cooper Joining Government Service ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, This Day. New Zealand Rhodes scholar, captain of the Oxford University Rugby team, and laiason ofilc.er attached to the De* partment of Scientifie and Industrlal Research, Mr M. M. Cooper, accompanied by his English wife, arrived by the Rangitiki from England. He is the : first New Zealand Rhodes scholar to join the New Zealand Government service. He will visit his people in Have-
lock North before commencing his duties at Wellington on Tuesday next. ! In three seasons Mr Cooper capt'ained Oxford in 50 matclies. He said that good forwards and fast, enterprising backs are expected to join the British toam for South Africa next scason. The team should do excoptionally well. He said he had enjoyod every minute of his stay in England. He does not know how long he niay he in New Zealand; he may bo sent back to England in two years' timo.
