WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

Bay View Birthday Parly The sixth annual .birthday party oi the Bay View Women 's Institute was celebrated .by an outing to the Nelson Park nursery at Napier. From there the party proceeded to* the Mariue Parade gardens, where great interest was shown in the tulip beds and cinerarias. The party Jater visited the Art Gallery and Museum, where some timo was spent in inspeeting the exhibits. After afternoon-tea the party spent a quarter of an hour with the roll call, each member having to tell a joke or story, providing a humorous interlude. The points prizes for the year were then presented. The perpetual silver cup for handieraft was won by Mesdames Les Staniland and T. Hoone (equal) 1, witli Miss Scott 2 and Mrs Olsen 3. The silver mmiature cup for best bloom was won by Mrs Les Saniland. The party concJuded with a memory competition won by Mrs E. Peterson.' A display of floral deeorative work was given by Mrs Harvey, of Napier, at the monthly meeting of the institute 's garden eircle, held at Mrs Walden 's home. The competitions for the month were: Collection of flowers, Mrs E. Peterson 1, Mrs Wilton 2, Mrs Les Staniland 3. Posy, Mrs E. Peterson 1, Mrs Olsen 2, Mrs Les Staniland , 3. Sweet-seented flower, Mrs E. Petersan 1, Mrs A. MeHardy 2, Mrs Olsen 3. The hostesses' competition, cloclc gof, was won by Mrs C. B. Wilson.
