St. Paul'a Church Anniversary

OTANE, Last Nigbt. There was a large congregiuioii at St. Paul's ( hurch on Sunday altorucon for the 60th anniversary cf it. founcatir.n. The epiaker for the afternoon was tho Rev, Mr. Kedgeley, of Napier, who preached an inspii'ing and appealing sermon basing his remarks on the faJl and rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. He paid a tribute to ihe sturdy faith of the pioneers, the debt the Church owed to them, and the need tor a spirit such as tlieirs tQ-day A feature of the service was tho singiug, members of the Waipawa clioir assisting with this part of tlte service. During the offertory Mrs G. Knobloek, Waipawa, sang a solo. The results ot the offer tory, which was a spec.'a! oue, were very gratifying, being tiie largcst for some years. Tennis Opening, The weather ou Saturday, although threatening, remained line ahd pleasant for the opening of the tennis oourts. There was a large number present. The president, Mr. August, extended. a cordial welcOme to those present and the best wishes for an enjoyable season, and decfared the courts open. A very pleasant time was spent, all the courts, which were in excellent order, being fully occupied. During the afternoon thep resident and Mrs. August entertained those present to afternoon tea.
