(Received 19, 8.45 a.nuP) JERUSALEM, Oct. 18. Widespread disorders and shooting continue in Palestine. Tlie easualties include both Jews and Arabs. A Jewisli boy, aged 11, was killbd by shots from .brigands at the Yeinente settlement. Other Jcws and British subjects carae under fire during several spasmodic attacks. . An Arab, J£emal Alami, who was recently recruited to the Police Investigation Department} was shot dead. Children who were eyc-witnesses told of a young Jewish tailor who was stabbed while sitting in a field reading. The children said an Arab stabbed him five times in the 6tomach. His^ condition is criticaJ. A bus carrying workers to Jerusalem from an American quarry near Motza was heavily fired on, but there were no easualties. A Jewish motor-car travelling from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was ambushed, shots causing the car to overturn. The driver and four passengers were injured, two seriously. An ambulance arl'ived and was also fired on. The police replied with a machine-guni causmg some easualties, The fine of £5000 imposed on Lydda Ciby in 1936 having been only partially collected, it has been re-imposed, and the inhabitants are being confined to their houses except for two hours daily. An Armenian photographer, mlstaken for an Arab was shot in Jerusalem to-day and is in a critical condition. A party of Arabs going to work was sniped, one being wounded. The wireless post office service at Lydda, which was destroyed on Saturday, has been temporarily patched up. Investigations show that the raidera were familiar with the movements of a small patrol which was resting in the hut when the fire started. Valuable ap'paratus and documents and passports were destroyed in the fire. This is the second time incendiaries have destroyed the whole of the Lydda wireless equipment. -The total loss is between £15,000 and £20,000. In view of the continuance of terrorism, preparations have been complefed to enforce martial law, which is believed to be imminent. There were hundreds of arrests today for breaches of the curfew order. An Arab doctor, Abu Labbi, was arrested for refusing to give the naines of terrorists under treatment. The Times Beirut correspondent says that tho Grand Mufti has arrived there from Jaffa/ Black Watch troops are rounding up Arabs who raided tho police station at Daharia and stole five rifles.
