British Herring Industry (Eeceived 19, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON Oct. 18. Over 1000 xepresentatives of tho herring fishing industry held a mass meetiug at Great Yarmouth to-day. The meeting, which included fishormcn and fishergirls and Parliamentary members reprcsenting tho fishing porte, appealed to tho Government for funds to save the industry which, it is cloimed, is doomed by tlie .iucreased costs of production and subsidised foreigu competition. O'he fishermen on the Clyde, who are gxving their support to the Yarmduth appeal, demand the abolition of the Hemng Indii'Stry Board, which, it is claimed, has failed to obtain markets. It if also stated that its restrictions are nseless.
