The Daily Telegraph 's Cairo correspondent states an Italian who has returned from Abyssinia asserts that the. recent xevolt which occurred at Addis Ababa caused far heavier Italian easualties than were reported. The Italians imagined that the main resistanbe was ended and, in accordanco with the wish to raise a large native army, they arnied thousands ot Abyssinians with modern rifles and machine-guns under Italian officers. The recruits were at first docile and apparently pleased to become Italian soldiers, but meanwhile, preparing a rising at a pre-arranged signal, they turned on their officers, killing all, and attempted to ensure a general rebellion.
