WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

A demonstration of tho correct methods of carving meat and poultry, given by Mr. J. D. Ormond, proved of great interest at the October meeting of the Wallingford Women 's Institute. Mrs. P. Canning presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. J. D. Ormond, The- delegate, Miss Judd, gave a comprehensive resume, of tho business dealt with at the Southern Hawke's Bay Federation's meeting at Papatawa. Final arrangements were made for the institute 's seventn birthday party to be held nest month. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames H. Parso^s, J. Canning, Murphy and Miss Judd, after which" musical items were given by Mesdames S. E. McNutt and T. Hobson. The results of the monthly competi--tions were: — Thrift article suitable for Spring Show, Mrs. Hewison 1, Mrs. Groves 2, Mrs. Wooster 3. Pudding or shape made from gelatine, Mrs". S. E, McNutt 1, Mrs. S. Ward 2.
