COLOURFUL FROCKING AT MUSICAL PLAY
Attractive and colourful frocking throughout the performance of th9 musical play " Just One Night," which was presented by the Hastings Playero under the direction of Mr A. Stanley Warwick in the Hastings Municipal Theatre 'last evening, added considerably to the pleasure and enjoyment given by the performance. The scene of the opening act was tho hall of Count Bobrikolf's chateau and u very gay appearance was given by rhe colourful evening gowns woru Uy the girls and the vivid tunics of the rnen. A very dainty gown was worn by Maria (Miss Molly Doyle) ( who chose ivory net mounted on bky-blue satin. Tiny frills trimmed the skirt at the back and the short sleeves were very full at the shoulders. Della (Miss Coral Hare) wore spring g-reen organdie net with si'lver trimming on the corsage and apricot flowers at the neck. Sona (Miss Rose Gallien) chose lilac net over taffeta with inset godets in the skirt edged- with tiny* frills and silyer sequins trimming the corsage. Maida (Miss Mary Lankovsky) wore apricot organdie tulle with a cluster of deeper apricot flowers at the neck and a sash of taffeta. - The scene in Act II. was Danelo's camp in'the hills and here soft lighting and gay gipsy frocks resulted in a most attractive picture. The girls in the chorus wore short full skirts in green, purple or flame with a band of gold at the liem and gold corsage. Helene (Miss Myra Banks) wore a flame skirt with bands of brown and a blue bolero. Lola (Miss Noni Coleman) chose a gold skirt with bands of orange and black and a black bolero. Mona (Miss Mabel Wyatt) wore au orange skirt banded vrith black and a blouse of white voile. Bright scarves | were worn over the heads or small black jewelled caps. Maria, Della, Sona and Maida also appeared in this act in bright gipsy skirts and blouses with scarves over their heads. The guards gave much colour to the scene with their long white trousers and red coats braided with white while the girls wore red pleated skirts and white coats braided with red. Two dainty ballets were also given. In the first, a ballet of flowers, the dancers wore ballet frocks of white stiffened tulle and carried flower garlands. In the second, a moonboat ballet, they wore gowns of blue chiffon with silver sashes. The whole evening 's entertainment was appreeiated by a good audience.
