New Zealand played a drawn oneday match. against a team representing all Ceylon with a view to keoping the players in form for the tour of Australia. The Kew Zealand team was: — Vivian, Moloney, Wallace, Hadlee, Lamason, Donnelly, Gallichan, Koberts, Lowry, Weir, Carson. The Now Zealand spiu bowlers performed creditably in the stifling heat on an easy wicket, being supported by excellcnt fielding. Vivian bowled 20 overs very Bteadily. Donnelly 's consisteney was ahown by five 'maidens in nine overs. Moloney, spinning the ball well, twice took two wickets in one over. •Vivian, Moloney, Eoberts, Hadlee and Lowry all mad© smart catches. Saram, formerly an Oxford University Blue, played a brilliant innings, combining quick footwork witb varied stroke play. Ceylon left the tourists only an hour and a-half to bat. It was impossible to force a win altbougb all tbe batsmen were aggressive. Vivian gave a delightftil display, hitting eight fours. Weir hit two sixes with successive balls and , .Wallace five fours and one six. The players were the guests at lunch of Sir Andrew Caldecott, Governor of Ceylon, and were entertained in the evening with a display of devil dancing at Mount Lavinia. The game was played on a pretty palm-ringed ground before a pieturesque and enthuslastic crowd of white-robed natives, Scores: — All Ceylon: Eight for 221, declared ,(de Saram 90).
