MASSED BANDS DISPLAY
Nelton Park on Sunday The Hawke's Bay BrasB Bands Association announce that everything is now in readiness for lts inaugural display on Sunday afternoon, A Monster mass bands display has been arranged and the Napier Citizens', Napier Technical, Hastings Citizens' and Hastings Boys' bands will par.ade and give an entertamment that will" certainly be something really new to the publje oi Hawke's Bay, Some 120 handsmen will take part in this brilfiant specfeacJe, the bright coloured uniforms -adding greatiy to a sigbt weli worth seeing. The respectivs bands have been assiduousb rehearsing such old favourites as "tovercargili," "Oolonel Bogey," aud "Death of Glor.y," and the hymns. "Abide with Me*" and "Neargr M.y God to-Thee" are also ineluded. These alone should be weil worth hearing, but the "Musical Switch" should prove a popular number, as will the eornet solo "The Corn.et King" (played by Bandsman McPherson). Ihe eonductors taking p'art will be Messrs T, Collins and G. Jensen of Napier, and C. Bryant, of Hastings. The grand tinale of the afternoon will be a massed marching display to the tune of popular marches, and will be the first of its kind to be attempted in this province. The performance will be given at. Nelson Park, Hastings, at 2.30 p.m. A silver coin eollection will be taken to assist the association in its elforts to put bands in this district on a sounder footing both musically and finaneialiy, and it is hoped that its efforts will b© weil jewarded, iq. thia, directioa^ ,
