WHAKATANE, Last Night. Au engineer on the auxiliary coastal vessel Horuta was very gravely injured when he was impaled on a pump-handle, which lie etruck when he jumped from the Whakatane wharf to the deck of the vessel. a distance of aboufc three feet, in the darbness. The injured man was Roberick Jamieson, a middle-aged married man, He was taken to the Whakatane Bospital by his companions, who found him in a semi-conscious condidition, and an operation was immediately performed.
