The nsh of Nelson Park for the season was sought by the Hastings Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club and granted, the rental charge tg be £11 11/-, -with & discpunt of £1 1/- for prompt payment. Application was received from the Park Eawn Tennis Club for five courts at Cornwall Park, and was granted at a Tental of £14, less £4* Tha Parkvale Golf Club advised acoeptanoe of the lease of Windsor Park, but asked that in the eyent of any alterations being carried out at the park, which might interfere with the golf playing area, the Club conjmittee be given an opportunity to meet and discuM same With the council. Thp extra cost involved in tending to cricket pitches on Saturday mormngs, In view of the 40-hour week and the conditions of the award, was mentioned by the Superintendent of KeserveS| Mr g; Qt. Q. Mackenzie, in a special report tabled at the meeting. It wai estimated tha| to carry out this work would mean an additional expenditure of £9 a teawa and it was doasidered that if the Work had to be done on Saturday morning then the Cricket AssociatiQn should pay for the employment of the labour required. Tha matter was left with C?« A. I. Rainbow, chairman of the Eeseyves Conunittee, and the superintendent, to discuss with the assoeiation. Similar labour costs would be inVOlved in the matter of putting the grast for the tennis courts at Cornwall Park and it was agreed that. this work phould be carried out last thing on Friday of each week in anticipation of the week-end play. ,
