State Gives Seetion in the Hanrahan Block Approval of the idea of a children 's playground being included in the Hanrahan Block, which is being subdivided for purposes of erecting dwell--ings under the Housing Scheme, w»« expressed by the Director of Housing Construction in a letter received by the Hastings Borough Council last evening. Tho director actually offered the Council .the selection of a seetion for this purpose, and the offer was aecepted. "Subject to the council undertaking to equip tlie reserve as a children's playground, the Department will . b« prepared to set aside one of the seetions iu the Hanrahan Block for the purppse, and dedicate same to the- coun; cil," stated the director, Who enclOaed with the letter a plan of the subdivision and a request that the council indicate which seetion it considered most snitable for the purpose. • It was decided to select a particular > seetion with a* frontage of 56 fpet and an area pf : 27.1 perches, and to accept the dedication provided no fencing cost* were involved. "I am sure that this area will be developed into a nice little playing ar*a and will be greatly appreciated by the residents of that portipn of the town," said the Mayor, Mr G- A. Maddison. "I think that tho Government should be thanked, for it is a very fihe geature on their part." On his suggestion a letter of thatiks and appreciation is to be forwarded to the Director. • *
