MUSICAL TREAT ENJOYED BY MEMBERS. OF WOMEN'S CLUB

A musical treat was enjoyed by the members of the Hastings Women 's Cominunity Clnb at their meeting yesterday when a deliglitful programme arranged by Mrs : L. J. Prime, of Napier, was given. The beautiful flowers which dccorated the club lounge were arranged with a mOst artistie touch, pinks, mauves and deep purple being blended with charming eft'ect. In the large bowls were tall sprays of pink cherry blossoin and pale lilac, on tlie occasional tables were vases of pink. tulips, float bowls of pink roses and a bowl of dainty purple flowers while in ono corner was a large vase of deep purple flag lilies. The whole scheme was admired by many of , the members. Large bowls of lilac also decorated the adjoining room where a delicious tea was enjoyed. Miss Helen Ford weleomed the visitors in the unavoidable absenco of the cricle leader, Mrs Gordon Roach, and said that everyone knew that any programme arranged by Mrs Prime would be an enjoyable one. The programme presented was ono of exceilent variety, vocal solos and duots, instrumental trios, 'cello and violin solos all being ineluded. Judging by the sincere applause which each pertormer received every item was thoroughly enjoyed by the listeners, and had ' time permitted the performers would have had to respond to rilany encores. The programme was as follows: Instrumental trios, "Intermezzo" (P. Mascagni), "Loin du Bal" (Gillet), Mesdames L. J. Prime, Anna Wilson ;and Mr J. McCarthy; vocal solos, "The "Violet" (Mozart), "Primrosy Gown" (Michael Head), Miss Mona Caldwell; vocal duet, "Holy Night" (Beethoven), Miss N. Prime and Rev. W. A. Mills; 'cello solos, "Ave Verum" (Mozart), "Lullaby" (Ernest Claude), Mr J. McCarthy; song, "The Windmill" (H. H. Nelson), Rev. W. A. Mills; songs "I Love You Dear" (Beethovon) (obligato, Mrs Wilson and Mr McCarthy), and "Open Your Window to the Morn," Miss Mona Caldwell; violin solo, "Allegro Con Brio" and "Rondo'' (Beethoven), Mrs Anna Wilson, L.R.S.M. The very capable accompanying of. Mrs Prime added in no small measuYe to the enjoymeht of the programme. At the conclusion of the programme Mrs ,H. Lovell-Smith said that many very delightful programmes arranged by Mrs Prime had been given at tho club on previous occasions, but she thought that, if possible, the one jus^ heard was even more enjoyable than ever before. On behalf of the club members she thanked Mrs Prime and the artjsts with her for giving the members sueh a musical treat. Among those present were: Miss Helen Ford, Mrs H. Lovell-Smith, Mrs H. M.
