QUIET SELLING

^ Store Cattle Sale at Hastings Store cattle met a quiet sale at Stortford Lodge to-day, wrep. an entry of some 9O0 head was yarded. Bidding was restrained, and, although numerous lines met the market, buyers were apparently not prepared to go above certain. limits, and, in consequence, there were a number of passings. Young cattle were principally on offer, with a number of useful lines of two-year-olds meeting quite good demand. The sale, however, was not a ■spirited one, and until the weather breaks and more rain falls, it will probably remain quiet. Welected entries and prices paid, from wliich an idea of the state of the market may be obtained, are as i'ellow: — A pen of 35 A.A. and A.A.-Hereford crossbred two-year-old heifers, fairly grown and in quite good order, passed at £4 15/-. Seventy polled Hereford two-year-old heifers, a clean-bred fairly grown line, fresh conditioned, passed at £4 17/6. A line of 81 two-year-old A.A. and A.A. crossbred steers,. mixed in size, some being only the size of yearlmgy, and mixed in condition, passed at £6.
