DANNEVIRKE, Last Night. Tho meeting convcne.d of farmers m Southern Hawke's Bay, sponsorod by tho Southern Hawke's Bay provincial executive of the Farmers' Uuioi^ was largely attended, representativos being present from all the branches in tho district, Tho object of tho meeting was to diacuss with officers of the Agricul* tural Department matters of vital importance to the district — the appointment of a fields officer for Southern Hawke's Bay, rabbit control, the resuseitation of the Young Farmers' Club, and the Pig Club movement, in addition to other questions. Mr J. Livingston, provincial president, occupied the cliair. The departmental officers present were Messrs A. H. Cockayno (DirectorGcneral of Agriculture), W. C. Barry (Director of Live Stock Division), R. B. Tennent (Director of Ficlds Division), W. B Manning (principal inspector for ,the Wellington district), A. D. Laing (veterinary surgeon^ Hastings), J.
