Makotuku Euchre Tournament.
The weekly euchre tournament held by the Makotuku braneh of the New Zealand Labour Party was well patronised, players being present from Ormondville and Norsewood. Prizewinners were: — Women: Mrs F. Mortensen (Norsewood) 1, Miss MortensSn •(Norsewood) '2. Men: Mr G. .Tensen (Makotuku) 1, Mr A. Nielsori (Makotuku) 2. Mr P. j. Murphy supervised the game, Supper was served by the ladies. The River Plate was crossed by a glider fof the first tinie when a Gerhian pilot, Herr Hans Ott, fiew from Oolonia in Ufliguav td Quilmes, near Buenos Aires. The glider was towed by an aeroplane to a height of 9750 feet, and was in the air for 43 minuteS after slipplng the tow. The distance as the crow flifes betwden Colona and Buenos Aires is 32 miles, '\|A-
