School Fancy Dress Function The Pakipaki School fancy .dress dance -tfas held in the Houngarea Hall on Friday night, the hall presentmg a very gay appearance when the pupils lined up for the grand march, the majority being in fancy dresses. There was a large attendance of adults, Bridge Pa and Pakipaki being well represented, to witness the grand march and the attendance grew etill larger as the evening wore on. The dances were executed with remarkable precision, the programme being as follows; — Grand march, Polka, ' ' Turkey in the Straw" (seniors), "Round the Village" (primers), "Blaek Nag" (juniors), "Spot Polka" (primers), "Brighton Camp" (seniors) * 1 Shoemakers ' Dance ' ' (primers)) "Norwegian Mountain Dance" (juniors), 1 ' Mage on a Cree" (seniors), "Lubin Loo" (primers), Sir Roger (juniors), "Hunsden House" (seniors), "Monte Carlo Polka" (standards), "Let the feet go tramp, tramp, tramp" (primers), ' 1 Gathering Peascods" (juniors). ' ' Sellengers Round" (seniors), "Supper Polka" (all). The M.C.'s were Heke Hone, Bena Hani and Margaret Tihema, who were in full charge of tho dances, while Miss Sim, infant mistress, providod very suitable music. Guy Tomlins was the announcer. The spot polka was won by Gladys Rodgers and Kitty Hindrup, while the Monte Carlo, which caused great amusement and exeitement for the youngsters, was won by Baby Ripokau and Dingo Hook. After the supper polka the pupils filed out to the adjojning meeting houseN where a _umptuous supper had been arranged by the ladies' committee and after sujver each pupil received a cake of choco'ate. The dance for the adults continued until the small hours of the morning, excellent music being played by MeKay 's orchestra, Mr. McKayt senr., acting as M.C. The Monte Cario was won by Miss Hilda Brooker and Guy Tomlins, and during the evening a demonstration dance was given by Edna Maye.
