ROAD-SEALING

County Accepts Tenders ' INCREASED COSTS The road-sealing work included in the Hawke's Bay (Jounty Council programme this season will cost £1700 above the amount that the Work was estimated for. This information was made availabe to-day when the tenders for the various works were considered by the council. "We can't allow this valuableowork to go by tho board," said the chairman, Mr E. B. Logan. "The council's share of the iucreased costs will he from £300 to £400, which is not considcrable, and the work is important." "The work is certainly important and must go on," said Mr E. Harding.' The chairman explained that the tender for the Waiohiki-Pakowhai road was 31 pef ccnt higher than last year. The tendcrer who did the Redcliff ef Fernhill road last year was up 44$ per cent in his tender. The successful tenderers for the following works are: — Waiohiki-Pakowhai (276 chains), R. Sanders and Son, Auckland. Te Mata-Tukituki (260) chains), E. Sanders and Son. Mangateretore-Te Awanga (260 chains), R. McGaffin. . Haumoana Beaeh (46 chains), R. McGaffin.
