C Portion of Equipment Aboard t Tainui t t NAPIER INSTALLATION Portion of the electrical equipmont j for Napier 's new automatic exchange } will arrive in Napier to-morrow morn- ^ ing on the Tainui, and will be unloadod , in readiness for the commencement of g the task of assembling the new system £ at a later date. The telegraph engineer £ at Napier, Mr E. Walpole, stated this morning that he did not know when a f start would be made with the work, 1 "There are 67 cases on board the 1 Tainui," he stated, "but I do not at ( present know what portion of tho whole ( of the 'equiphient this comprises or { whether the available equipment will be c enough- to make a start with the { work." v 1 Advice is being awaited- from Wel- t lington regarding the time when the t work of assembly will commence, but it ] was previously statpd that no start will c bo made until enough of the equipment has arrived in New Zealand to ensure that the work will be carried through continuously. Tho Napier stafl; will bo aided in the assemblage of the intricate machinery by other worlcmen of the P. and T. Department from Wellington. ^ Further shipments of equipment will ^ be sent from Wellington from now until the cnd of the year, but it will be several months after the last shipment before the automatic system is.in operation in Napier.
