The smart rescue of a man overhoard in the shark-infested Red Sea provided excitement during the passage of the Orontes, which is bearing the New Zealand cricketers, from Suez to Aden. After the prompt soundmg of the alarm, the vessel was quickly swung completely round, listiug so steeply with her helin hardxovor that water entered the portholes of the lower deck caoms. While officers and passengors liuiug the rails scanued the sea with glasses, lifebnoys were flung overboard and a lifeboat was launched. A quarter of an hour after the alarm was raised, a man was sighted swimming easily. He was picked up by the lifeboat amid wild cheering by the passengers. The cricketers are comfortably quartered and are actively particip.ating in deck sports. All are in excellent health, Besides visiting Paris, they made sight-seeing excursions at Naples, Port Said and Aden. They intena to play a practice game at Colombo.
