Men's Hockey Club Function

NORSEWOOD, Last Night. The dance held by the Norsewood Men's Hockey Club was a pronounced success. Visitors were present from Waipawa, Palmerston North, Dannevirke and the surrounding districts. The Norsewood Hall was deeorated with blue and whito streamers, the club 's iolours. Music was supplied by Godson's Aces, Messrs Kariatiana and W. Te Tau contributing extras. A MonteCarlo waltz was won by Miss 0. Bowiey and Mr W. Eoley, Waipukurau, and a spot waltz was won by Mi&s N. Hartnett and Mr Thompson, Norsewood. Membors of the Norsewood and Huia (Dannevirke) hockey tc:i:ns were called on to the stage for tho jvresentatiou of trophies won during the season. Mr A. F. Oulliford, on behalf of the Norsewood club, thanked all present for the splendid patronage. Mr E. Bethel, president of the Dannevirke Hockey Association, presented the trophies and congratulated the Norsewood men's hockey team on its meritorious performance in winning the Armstrong Challongo Cup for tho fourth time in succession. The competition had been keenly contested he said, and the success of the Norsewood team was due largely to the two splendid backs it possessed in A. Bennett and F. Thompson. The whole team was a good combination and dcserved its win. Mr Bethell also congratulated and presented the team with the Eraser Memorial Cup as winners of the 11-a-side tournament. Mr F. Thompson, captain, accepted the trophies on behalf of his team. The Smith Memorial Skield for five-a-side competition, was won by the Huia Club, Dannevirke.
