Footballer Hurt in Last Game of Season

WANGAiN UI, East XNlgnt. As a result of injuries he receivod when playing Rugby football last Satnrday, Robert Hair, aged 26, single, died in the Patea Hospital to-day. Hair, who had been a member of the Waverley Rugby Football Club since 1929, and played for the Wanganui B representatives in 1935 and 1936, was playing in the final game of the season just concluded, againgt Teehnical Old Boys. It was the deciding match of the Charity Cup. Hair was injured some four minutes before the end, the belief then being that he was winded. He resumed play after attention and saw the match out. Afterwards he did not consider his condition serious enough to be attended by a doctor and he went home. Later he suffered a collapse and was removed to hospital and operated on. It was discovered that he had a laeerated, fractured liver. Hair was a very popular member of the Waverley Club. He was the manager of a sileep farm in- the Okatuku district. His parents, Mr and Mrs Dave Hair, are well-known .Waverley resi- . dents. . 'X|
