Officers Elected at Arinuat Meeflng

OTANE, Last Night. The annual meeting of the Otane Tennis Olub was held in the library room, with Mr M. August ' presiding. The balance-sheet ehowed that the year ended with a credit balance. In addition to the ordinary upkeep and maintenance, the pavilion had been painted, and a shed to house the mowers had been erected. The playing season had been somewhat interrupted, firstly by the unpleasant weather on a number of club days, and later the epidemic had a serious affect on attendances. Nevertheless, inter-club matches were played with Cornwall Park, Waipukurau and Waipawa clubc. The following oScers were elected' for the ensuing year: — President, Mr M. August (re-eiected) ; vice-presidehts,- . Messrs E. White and R. Rust; secretary, Mr I. White (re-elected) committee, Messrs W. August, J. Tod, R. Mason, J. Dickson, W. Tod and O. August; te>-committee, Misses M. Mundell and E. White, Mr S. Averill is to he thanked for his services as delegate to the tennis association and (to be asked to act again for the club. It was decided to open the courts for play on October 16 if the weather is suitable. This season SaturUay will be the only tea-day, a's the attendances. are fairly distributed on the other days of the week and play begins later in the afternoon. The subscription is to be'.the same as last year, with the same coneession as before for long-distance , members. Messrs 0. August and J. Collins have each donated a cup for women' s and men's hahdicap singles ; competitions respectively. Recently a ! working bee of about eight members, . has been. busy at the courts. \ Given reasonable weather, the com- ; ing* season, promises to. be a favouxable one for the club.
