TE REHUNGA TEACHER FAREWELLED

Mr. W. A. B. Goodwin Leaves for Mohaka There was a big gathering in the Te Rehunga Pubjic Hall for the farewell to Mr W. A. B. Goodwin, M.A., Dips, Ed., who has been headmaster of the Te Rehunga School for the past six and a-half years, and his wife, who are leaving for Mohaka, where Mr Goodwin has been appointed headmaster of the native school. Mr Goodwin's successor at Te Rehunga is Mrs McGibbon. Mr A. England, chairman of the school committee called upon Mr and Mrs Goodwin to accept a silver tea set as a token of appreciation. The standard of education at the school under Mr Goodwin's guidance has been raised, tho reports of the Education Board inspeqtors had been very satisfactorj and Mr Goodwin had been of great assistance in regard to the secondary clepartment, he said. He had taken an active part in school sport, including swimming, and had inaugurated speech days by the pupils and exhibitions bf their work. Mr Goodwin bod also rendered great assistance in raising funSs for the school by concerts and bazaars, and in the teaching of the pupils dancing. In this connection he had been greatly assisted by his wife. Eor the dancing Mr E. O'Hagen supplied the music, and Mr Gordon Hay was M.O. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Miss Gill.
