NORMA SHEARER'S RETURN
* Just over a year ago Norma Shehrer was trying to persuade Irving Thalberg to permit her to go to England to make "Marie Antoinette.*' It would -be better, she argued, to produce the picture "in Europe," where the ultra-romantic atmosphere of of Hollywood could not colour the historical aspects of the story. She wanted to make a iilm in England, anyhow, and he had promised to let her do so. Then Thalberg died. Norma entered mto a year's retirement. She now expects to begin "Marie Antoinette" this month and With the sereen pla-y completed, the wigs and gowns designed, and every cTetail pencilled in ready for the start, Norma is without a leading man. Charles LaugRton has suggested that Miss Shearer and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer consider iilming "Marie Antoinette in England, when h# jrill gladly play Louis XYL , - '
