"After the Thin Man," starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, which opens at the Regent Theatre to-morrow, is a sensational sequel to "The Thin Man," produced by Metro-Goldwyn-^ Mayer in response to remarkable public demand for another mystery by Dashiell Hammett. Powell and Miss Loy are 6aid to excel their stellar performances in the original and the story is even more intriguing. A first'tate supporting cast includes James Stewart, Elissa Landi, Joseph Calieia, Jessie Ralph and Asta, the smart little wire-haired terrier that played such a clever role in ' Tho Thin Man." The picture was directed by W. S. Van Dyke, talented dixector of the first picture, who is an ardent mystery story reader on his own accord. Hunt Stromberg, former etar newspaper man. was the producer, "After- the Thin Man' 4 presents a uparkling comedy-mystery", placed in San Francisco. 'Powell, . as the. detective, . Nick Charles, arrives home, after a New1 York venture determined to abandoh the profession of sleuthing. But he encounters immediate mystery, murder and intrigue in an affair that extends from the aristocratic heights of old Nob Hil^to the shadowed . alleys of Chinatown. "After the Thin Man" is a picture that will run its original a close race for popularity. It is more than a sequel, for it .picks up in high gear where "The Thin Man" left off and it never slackens the pace,
