- ■ ■ ■ v w 1 i i • Port Ahuriri Gathering The monthly meeting of the Port Ahuriri Townswomen's Guild. presided over by Mrs Sutherland, was a very busy one. After opening with the ode and aspirations and dealing with the usual business, a letter of thanks was read from the district nurse, for cot quilts from the guild. Mrs McCarthy brought a very full and interesting report from the New Zealand U.T.G, conference recejitly held in Wellington. Each resolutioja was comjneuted upon. The thanks of the meetjog were conveyed to both Mra McCarthy and Mrs Mitchell (dejegates). A display of soft toys, made by Mrs Robinson (Pakowhai), was on view, the making of which was explaiued by Mrs Brodie. Owiug to Mrs flolt's inability to be present, tlie llower competition was judged by vote, resultiug Mixed section: Miss Glennie I, Mrs McDonald and Mrs hfcCarthy (tie) 2. One variety: Mrs Wrightson 1. Thrift article, Miss Glennie 1. Mrs McCrae did brisk business at the briug-and-buy stall. Afternoon tea was served by the hon« $♦«# for th» *ft*rnoon.
