GOODS TAKEN FROM STORE
Young Man Charged With Breaking and Entering Charged wi'h breaking and entering a store in Carlyle street, Napier, last month, and stealing a quantity of groceries to the total value of £39 6/9, a Napier motor-driver, Hilton Trevor Ewart, aged 26, appeared before Messrs A. E. Bedford and F. J. Anuan, J.P.'s, in the Napier Police Court this morning. He was remanded untilfMonday. Detective-Sorgeant H. Nuttall appeared for the police, and Mr A. H. D. Mayne for thc defence. Ewart was charged with the theft of 145 tins of tobacco, 372 packets of cigarettes, 72 boxes of matches, 65 packets of cigarette papers, 43 pounds of tea, 11 tins of baking powder, 30 tins of jam, 25 tins of cocoa, 36 packets of jellies, and other groceries.
