Miss Betts was playing below her usual form in the first half and was four down at the turn. She picked up well in the eecond half and won back two holes of the hrst four in the second half, while two were halved, for Mrs Morpeth to stand two up. The iourteenth was then halved, and ihe Mteenth going to Miss Betts, she was then one down with three to play. The sixteenth was halved in bogey hves and the match ended at the seventeenth where Mrs Morpeth played • a beautiful tee shot to the green. Miss Betts just managed to clear the road which left here with a long rup-up shot to the pin. Mrs Morpeth was down in two putts for a three to Miss Betts' four. Ihe second game was between Miss Toihurst and Mrs Fullerton-Smith. Mrs JTullerton-Smith played excellent goll in the first half to win four holes and halve the -other five. Miss Toihurst was playing good golf, but was just outj^piayed by one stroke at the four holes that she lost. The game at the turn was four up in Mrs Fullerton-Smith's favour. Miss Toihurst then improved, while Mrs Fullerton-Smith faded a little in her play. Miss Toihurst wou -ihe nest two holes in par figures and reduced her debit to two down. The twelfth went to Mrs Fullerton-Smith, who thus again led by three up. Miss Toihurst, playing grimly, won the next two and then stood one down with four to play. The last four holes were halved for the game to end on the eighteenth green I up to Mrs FullertonSmith. Miss Toihurst lost an excellent chance to square the game on the sixteenth green where she was nicely on iu three, with her opponent thr'augh, but she lapsed in putting and took three more to hole out, letting Mrs Fullerton-Smith halve in sixes. The thira game was between Miss Kernot and Mrs Hollis, and was won by Mrs Hollis five up and four to play. Mrs Hollis was right ou her game and, plgying superbly, won four of the first six holes. She added the tentb to her iist and retained this inargin to win the game at the tourteentb, bv five uj> and iour to play. At the fiftk she seored a birdie three with a run-in shot 60 feet from the pin and at tbe next hoie also holed a run-m shot of 40 feet to secure a half. Her figures for the 14 holes were even fours. Miss Kernot was playing good golf but could not win a single hole from Mrs Hollis. After the first six holes she heJd Mrs H,ollis well to secure. seven halves aud lose only the one hole at the 'tentb, where she apparently mishit her approaeh shot and required another to fiud the green, taking a five to her opponent's four. The fourth game was between Miss Hutton and Miss Helean, which was won by Miss Helean by three up and two to play. This game was a grim struggle througbout, first one player taking the lead and losing it again to the othei, until Miss UeJean clinched matters at the sixteenth. Miss Helean won the first hole, but got into difficulties at the second where she played her approach too strongly and went down the bank beyond the green and took two shots to recover. She then conceded the hole. Miss Hutton won the next to stand one up. Miss Helean then won the next two holes to stand oue up, but Miss Hutton squared the game again at the next. The eighth _aad ninth holes were halved for tbe ^ match to be all square at the turn. Miss Helean then won two holes m succession to be two up for the first time. At the fourteenth Miss Hutton played a perfect iron tee shot to within a yard of the pin and scored a two. The game now stood one up to Miss Helean with four to play. She mereased ber lead again at the fifteenth with a nicely played bogey four. At the sixteenth both players, after good drives pushed tbeir seconds out of bounds and had to replay tbem. Miss Helean found the green with her second effort, a beautiful long brassie shot, while Miss Hutton was 30 yards short, to be on with her next. Two putts each and the hole went to Miss .
