A DEPRESSING DAY
London Stock Market WATCH ON WALL STREET (Received 7, 31.50 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 6. Heavy liquidation, mainly from the Continent, caused the markets another depressing day despite the fact that it is generally considered that the condition of trade does not justify the prevailing dejection. Unfortunatily, the fear of further selling holds buyers back. Speeulators have been foreed to jettison both shares and commodities and to meet losses. Rubber has slumped to the lowest priee of the year. The fall of the franc has not caused much excitement in London financial circles, as it has been continuously slipping down in the last few weeks. . The markets are much mpre preoccupied With the behavious of Wall street. The authorities intervened when the franc touched 150. The imprpssion is current that publio opinion will be disturbed if the franc is allowed to fall much lower at the inoment, though possibly it would accept further depreciation later.
