PIRATE SUBMARINE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN SUNK BY DESTROYERS
(Received 7, 1.15 p*m.) LONDON, Oct. 6. The Daily Telegraph's correspondent states that reports received at Malta provide grounds for the belief that the submarine which attacked the destroyer Basilisk on Monday was sunk by the destroyers' depth charges. Personal belongirigs, including a book, are reported to have been picked up by the Basilisk af ter the engagement. There is no indication as to which of the seven destroyers engaged was responsible for the submarine 's destruction.
