PATIENT GOES BY AIR
Flight from Auckland to Christchurch (By Telegrapb— Pre»» Asuociation.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. The special ambulanco equipment supplied with the Auckland Aero Club 'a Beechcraft machiiie was Used for the first time to-day when a stretcher patient was flown from Mangere to Wigram, Christchurch. Mr W. J. Sexton was the pilot, and tke patient was accompanied by his wife and child. An -unusual stipulation that in /view of the patient 's condition the machine was not to be flown any higher than was necessary in the interests of safety was made by the patient's doctor. The flying conditions and visibility were good, however, and the maximum altitude necessary was 5000 feet over Cook Strait. ' The patient, who was' driven to the aerodrome in an ambulance, stood the air journey well. The trip south occupied 3 hours 25 minutes and the return flight 3 hours 40 minutes. A flight to Nelson will be made by the Beechcraft to-morrow with another patient.
