Director Dismissed LATEST S0VIET PURGE (Received 6, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 4. The Manchester Guardian's Moscow correspondent states that tlTe former Prince Michitsky, a well-known zoologist and director in charge of the feeding of animals in the zoo, has been dismissed pwing to the many deaths among the animals. Nails were discovered in the bread given to guinea kens, and strychnine in the badgers' food, while veterinarian treatment was hindered. The director endeavoured to attract spectators by ballet dances and by broadcasting jazz, which terrified the animals, while in order to raise funds he slaughtered bears and water buffaloes and sold the meat cheaply to zoo attendants.
