WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

Kereru Meeting The October meeting of the Kereru. Women's Institute was held on Saturday in the district hall. The president, Mrs L. B. Averill, read the motto for the month and- also the birthdays and these were followed by the business. , The roll-call "Spring cleaning hints" was answered by all. Tho best bloom competition was won by Mrs C. G. Averill, who also won second place and Mrs R. Kay was third. The prizes for this competition for six inonths donated by Mrs W. Whyte were presented to the successful entrants: Mrs R. P. Kay 1, Mrs C. G. Averill 2. The institute 'S monthly competition, a plate of three pikelets, resulted: Miss Elmers 1, Mrs P. Walker 2, Mrs W. Johnston 3. A social competition, ' ' Famous people," arranged by Mrs C, G. Averill, was won by Mrs P. Walker, Mrs L. R. Averill being second, The cake icing demonstration was unavoidably postponed. A pleasant meeting ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
