His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Galway, is expocted to visit Hamilton on Friday. Arrangements are being made for him to inspect the Waikato Land Settlement Society 's Karakarilii settlement, at Whatawhata, and Bryaiit House, Raglan, in the morning. In the afternoon he will present the trophies won at the New Zealand golf championship tournament now in progress at St. Andrews links. His Excelloncy, in his capacity of master of tho Grand Lodge. of New Zealand, will attend a meeting of members of ihe three Hamilton Masonic lodges affiliated with the New Zealand Grand Lodge. Mr. Joseph Wilson, Hastings, who has been on a holiday visit to Australia, retutned home to-day; The Hon. H. A. Russell left Hastings this morning to Wellington to attend a eitting of the Legislative Couneil. Mr. C. M. Cooko, vicc-president of the Cooke Trust Coaipany of Honolulu, accompanied by Mrs. Cooke, is making a holiday tour of New Zealand. Lieutenant H. W. Jones, Royal Naval Reserve (New - Zealand Division), has been promoted lieutenant-commander, according to a noticc in tho Gazette. Mr W« F. Sutton, who has been eecretary of tho Automobile Association (Otago) for the past. eight years, has been appointed touring manager of the association. Captain D. T. Maxwell, New Zealand Staff Corps, has returned to the Domiuion after taking a course at the Staff College, Camberley, Engalnd. The Rev. Bernapd Wilson, formerly a student at the Bible Training Institute and the New Zealand Baptist College, who has been engagcd in chuteh and mission work in England an'd Australia, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Aorangi. Mr. Wilson will eonduct missions in Auckland, Palmerston North, Christchurch, and Dunedin. Canon Stephen Parr, principal of College House, Canterbury University College, has obtained a year's furlougli to enable him to visit England and study developments in collegiate and theological college matters. He Will leave in November. During his absence College House will be supervised by Mr. A. E. FlOwer and the theological studies will be directed by the Rev. S. Wood, who is shortly to be ordaincdj assisted by the Rev. F. R, Rawle.
