Subsidy Approved for Extra Work Ab the result of recent representations made to the Department of Labour by Mr. (,\ Lassen, chainnan of Ihe Hawke's Bav ltivers Board, further Improveriieut work may be earried out to tho Awanui stream. This morning the board received the approval of the Department to a subsidy of / 5 per ceut. of the wages on tlie additional work estimated to cost £650. This will incliide the extension of the work for a distance of 40 chains up the Poukawa stream from Pakipaki, and also for a stretch of two miles down stream from McPhee's bridge. 1
